Basic Investment Terms Everyone Needs to *Understand*

Alright I know this is basic, but, I want to make sure new investors have an understanding of some of the terms that they will run across often

  1. Asset
  2. Liability
  3. Net worth
  4. Compound interest – also check out this cool calculator
  5. Asset allocation
  6. Diversification
  7. Stock
  8. Bond
  9. Index funds
  10. Mutual fund
  11. ETF
  12. ROI
  13. Capital gains

This is just a quick list to get you started. And remember, the more you know and can learn, the less you have to rely on others in order to reach your financial goals!

Also as you can see, I’m a big fan of Investopedia.com. In all honesty, that is probably a site you should be spending a lot of time on!

All the best!
